Recent news and reviews:

'blues in britain' magazine - March 05

"When the Burglars play slow blues, they sound like slow blues should... that's an early sixties Chicago sound: an Otis Rush type sound, Freddie King type sound, the sort of sound that they got on those recordings from that era. Audiences know the band plays in, basically, a Chicago style - it might develop a bit from there, but that's where it's rooted - and they like us because that's what we do."

Darlington Blues Club review *excerpt - 7/1/05

"So, the Blues Burglars are back and ready to reclaim their former crown as the U.K's premier blues band. With three front men like Johnny, Martin and Billy they will give every other British band a run for their money. The band started their gig tonight with a self penned number, "Slinky Swing" and as you would expect from the title, it was very slinky and very 'Swing.' The band were always known for their unique approach to Chicago Blues, and then went on to prove to the sell-out crowd just why. Howlin' Wolf's "How Many More Years" was performed with such gusto that you would swear the big man himself was up there on stage singing it. Billy's voice is without doubt the closest you can get to the Wolf's. He just has to be heard - writing about it just doesn't give him justice!

Dundee Blues Bonanza review

"Apparently there were many who couldn't get in to see the Blues Burglars last night and not surprisingly, the venue was full to the gunnels as Johnny Whitehill led the band into their customary 10 minute opening slow blues. Martin Fletcher was bemoaning the fact his amp had blown up last night but sounded great through the PA. Eddie and PJ have the engine room sown up so tight a gnat's piss couldn't slip through and then there's Billy Sharp - still looking great 20 years after I first saw the band, and sounding as if he inherited Howlin Wolf's voice upon the bluesman's death in 1976. What a great end to a fantastic weekend!"
